Head coach Dave Hess. PIAA District 4 Class AAA. District 4 Class 3A champion and PIAA Class AAA champion.
Selinsgrove went 16-0 under Dave Hess. The alumni association calls the Dec. 18 win the first football state title in school history, and says Selinsgrove was the first District IV team in the top two classes to win one. The score was 10-7 over Manheim Central at Hersheypark Stadium. District 4 lists the Seals as the 2009-10 Class 3A champion.
The MaxPreps schedule has the other fifteen wins, including 28-0 at Archbishop Wood on Dec. 11 and 35-28 at Southern Columbia on Oct. 16. The sixteen games were worth 680 points scored and 96 allowed. Matt Wenrich, Ryan Keiser, and Spencer Myers are on the team photo.
The Daily Item's Dec. 19 story says the Seals trailed until the last 107 seconds. Spencer Hotaling kicked a 22-yard field goal to make it 7-3. Ryan Keiser intercepted a pass with a little more than five minutes left, then caught two passes on the 12-play, 72-yard drive. Seth Lauver scored from 6 yards with 1:47 left. The story says Selinsgrove was the eighth Pennsylvania high school team to finish 16-0, and that Manheim Central ended 15-1. A parade was set for 10 the next morning.
