Head coach Dave Hess. PIAA District 4 Class AAA. District 4 Class AAA champion. Beat Jersey Shore 35-7 in the final at Selinsgrove.
Dave Hess's first season. PA Football News lists it 13-2. District 4 lists Selinsgrove as the 2008-09 Class 3A champion.
The district final was Friday, Nov. 14, at Selinsgrove. The Seals won 35-7. Cameron Benner returned an interception 53 yards for the first score. Cory Briggs threw two touchdowns to Ryan Keiser. Bryant Trautman scored twice on 1-yard runs. The story said Selinsgrove was 11-1 at that point and would play Hollidaysburg next. It does not print that result. A channel upload titled as a state-championship game is not used as a score.
The PIAA results list has the next three games: Selinsgrove 35, Hollidaysburg 10 in the first round; Selinsgrove 14, Berwick 6 in the quarterfinal; Archbishop Wood 13, Selinsgrove 7 in the semifinal. The Times Leader account of the Berwick game, at Wilkes-Barre Memorial Stadium, credits Ryan Keiser with a 57-yard reverse, a 36-yard catch, a blocked extra point, and a 14-yard run on a fake punt. It says Selinsgrove was 13-1 and had won 13 in a row.
