Dave Hess
2008–2014. Record 62-30.
Dave Hess coached from 2008 through 2014. PA Football News lists that run at 62-30.
The 2009 team went 16-0 and won the PIAA Class AAA title, 10-7 over Manheim Central at Hersheypark Stadium. The alumni association calls it the first football state title in school history, and the first by a District IV team in the top two classes. District 4 also lists 3A titles for 2008-09, 2009-10, 2012-13, and 2014-15.
The 2008 district final was at Selinsgrove: the Seals 35, Jersey Shore 7. Hess told EasternPAFootball that a league title had been step one and a district title step two.
The yearly lines are 2008 13-2 (District 4 3A), 2009 16-0 (District 4 3A; PIAA Class AAA), 2010 7-5, 2011 1-9, 2012 10-4 (District 4 3A), 2013 6-6, 2014 9-4 (District 4 3A).
He is a Selinsgrove graduate, class of 1977, a two-way tackle and captain on what the alumni page calls Bill Scott's first championship team. At Lock Haven he started four years on the defensive line. The hall of fame says he returned as a volunteer assistant in 2024.
