Selinsgrove Football 2014 Season

PA Football News lists 2014 at 9-4 under Dave Hess. District 4 lists Selinsgrove as the 2014-15 Class 3A champion.

On Halloween night at Tiger Stadium, Southern Columbia won 28-21. Billy Barnes intercepted Logan Leiby with 21 seconds left, Selinsgrove driving in the red zone. Juvon Batts ran 23 times for 116 yards, including a 71-yard score, and caught a 67-yard touchdown. An 82-yard punt return by Batts was called back. Leiby was 9 of 18 for 250 yards and two touchdowns. Zach Adams caught the other one, from 22 yards. Matt Jeremiah ran 26 times for 167 yards and scored all four Southern touchdowns, the last of them from 44. The box header lists Southern at 9-0. The story says the regular season ended 10-0. Selinsgrove was 7-3.

The Daily Item story dated Nov. 8, 2014, by Todd Hummel, is headlined as a Class AAA semifinal win over Shikellamy. The photo caption gives the score as 31-17, Friday night, in Selinsgrove. The visible lead says fullback Zach Adams played with a cast on his right hand, tailback Juvon Batts was used as a decoy, and a lineman's play on defense helped the Seals into another district final.

A Nov. 19 Daily Item caption shows Dave Hess and the team after Friday's win at Jersey Shore for the District 4 Class AAA championship. The caption says the Seals dedicated the win to alum Ryan Keiser. It does not print the score.

The PIAA first-round list has Somerset 42, Selinsgrove 14. That is the state game after the district title. The district-final score is still not in the Daily Item caption.
