Selinsgrove vs Manheim Central Football Rivalry
On Friday, Dec. 18, 2009, at Hersheypark Stadium, Selinsgrove beat Manheim Central 10-7 for the PIAA Class AAA title. The Seals trailed until the last 107 seconds. Spencer Hotaling kicked a 22-yard field goal to make it 7-3. Ryan Keiser intercepted a pass with a little more than five minutes left, then caught two passes on a 12-play, 72-yard drive. Seth Lauver scored from 6 yards with 1:47 left. Selinsgrove finished 16-0. Manheim Central ended 15-1.
The Republican Herald's Sept. 21, 2011 notebook says Manheim Central won 31-10 in Week 3, the third straight year the teams played. It calls the 2009 title the most memorable game in the series, says Manheim Central won the 2010 rematch 21-20 in Manheim, and says the 2011 game was the last of the non-league series.
