PA Football News lists 2016 at 8-4 under Derek Hicks. District 4 lists Jersey Shore as the 2016-17 Class 4A champion.
A Sept. 29, 2017 Sun-Gazette preview says Jersey Shore won the previous year's district championship, 31-15, after Selinsgrove had taken the regular-season meeting. Hunter Frantz caught two touchdowns in the final, and Dominic Williams returned an interception for the clinching score. Logan Leiby threw for 348 yards and three touchdowns in that regular-season win. Selinsgrove intercepted four passes in the championship. The preview does not print the regular-season score.
The Daily Item's preview of the 2017 district final says the 2016 semifinal was a 21-17 Selinsgrove win at the expense of Shikellamy. Leiby, playing safety, forced and recovered a fumble while the Seals trailed by a field goal in the third quarter. The same story has the regular-season game ending with Shikellamy in front, 21-14, after Gabe Tilford's 11-yard and 37-yard touchdown runs, and with Selinsgrove unable to tie it.
The regular season ended at Jim Roth Field. EasternPAFootball has Southern Columbia winning 52-35. MaxPreps dates that Friday Oct. 28. Selinsgrove was 7-3 and dropped to the two-seed, so the next game was at home against Shikellamy. Logan Leiby set the school single-season completions record at 177. That mark had stood since 1979. Southern was 10-0. Jim Roth called it the Tigers' 51st straight regular-season win.
