1972–1987
Bill Scott's first sixteen seasons
Bill Scott arrived in 1972. The District 4 hall of fame says district titles did not start until 1987, and the championship list's first Selinsgrove title is 1988-89. These sixteen seasons are the years before that title.
The table runs from 3-7 in 1972 to 10-1 in 1977, 9-2 in 1980 and 1985, and a 1-10 in 1981. 1987, the last year before the first listed title, is 7-5. The hall of fame credits him with 14 league titles across the whole 36-year stay. It does not assign those titles to single seasons.
Dave Hess, class of 1977, was a two-way tackle and the captain of what the alumni page calls Bill Scott's first championship team. Mike Fahnestock, the same class, left as the career rushing leader at 3,569 yards, then caught passes at Army. Marlin Van Horn, class of 1976, was a Big 33 linebacker and later started at Maryland. Their careers are on the alumni pages. A game score from those falls was not in the hall of fame biographies.
