Dave Hess
T · Class of 1977 · Lock Haven
Dave Hess, class of 1977, was a two-way starting tackle and a senior captain on what the alumni page calls Bill Scott's first championship team. He was a first-team all-star on offense and defense for the Susquehanna Valley Conference, the Daily Item, and the Reading Eagle, and he captained the 1976 Susquehanna Valley all-star game.
At Lock Haven he started four years on the defensive line and played on the 1979 Pennsylvania Conference championship team. He later assisted Bill Scott for 25 years, including as defensive coordinator, then was head coach from 2008 through 2014. The hall of fame says he came back as a volunteer assistant in 2024.
The hall of fame says he and teammates founded the Gray Eagles Football Club in 2017 and that the club raised more than $250,000 for Lock Haven football scholarships. The Aug. 17, 2026 school board minutes list him as an assistant football coach.
